Avoid the Holiday Madness

Tis the season when we need clarity more than ever! Things are getting frantic at home, at work, in the stores, and on the roads.

As you navigate your way through the holidays, keep alert to information that will help you understand what's most important to you. When you focus on the people, events, and things that mean the most to you, you'll be able to let go of the stuff that has become merely habitual.

In order to keep focused on what matters most, ask yourself these questions:

  1. What kinds of holiday experience (emotional, social, spiritual, recreational) are most meaningful to you?
  2. Which of your current holiday activities provide these meaningful experiences? Which don't?
  3. What new holiday activities would provide fresh opportunities for more meaningful experiences?

Getting clear about what's truly important will enable you make decisions about which responsibilities and invitations to accept, and which to decline. That clarity will enable you to deliver a graceful and gracious "no" when you need to.
